NORTHERN ZAMBIA WATERFALL ROUTE

16 Days of adventure riding exploring the magnificent waterfalls of Northern Zambia.

Almost 30% of all the fresh water in Africa originates in Zambia and a large portion of this is in the Northern Province. This region boasts with an untold number of waterfalls. All are spectacularly beautiful - from the roaring Lumangwe Falls (also known as the Victoria falls of the North), Kabweluma to the gorgeous and very picturesque Ntumbachusi Falls.

Many of these hidden gems are rarely visited and several are virtually unknown, which makes them even more magnificent. The allure of these falls over the ages is evident by the large amount of rock art in their immediate vicinity. Some of the waterfalls of Northern Zambia still hold mythical significance to the local people with spirit houses and incantations still in use.

Isanga Bay Lodge

Besides the waterfalls, another major highlight is spending a few days at Lake Tanyanika. Lake Tanganyika is one of the African Great Lakes and the world's longest freshwater lake (677 kilometers from North to South). The lake is shared between four countries – Tanzania (46%), the Democratic Republic of the Congo - DRC (40%), Burundi (7%) and Zambia (7%). The lake drains into the Congo River system and ultimately into the Atlantic Ocean.

Lake Tanganyika is also the second oldest freshwater lake in the world, the second largest in volume, and the second deepest, in all cases only after Lake Baikal in Siberia.

The immense depth of the lake is because it lies in the Great Rift Valley, which also created its steep shoreline. The lake reaches a depth of 1,433m, an unbelievable 642m below sea level.

The clear waters of the lake host more than 350 different species of fish and is well known for its excellent angling and aquarium fish exports.

Other highlights on this very special tour include relaxing at Kapyisha Hot Springs, a visit to the historic Shiwa Ngandu House, staying on the banks of the lower Zambezi, the Mutinondo Wilderness, Lake Bangweulu, and much much more.

We transport your motorcycle from Cape Town or Johannesburg to Lusaka, saving you at least 10 days of in transit/traveling time and arrange border papers and third-party insurance in Zambia on your behalf.

A combination of tar/paved roads, some good gravel roads, smaller, less traveled rural roads with a few technical sections to get to the lesser travelled areas and hidden gems.

This is small group adventure travel at its best, with only space for 6 motorcycles, making this tour exclusive, personal and definitely unique.

The trip is suitable for intermediate riders and is pillion friendly - because you would love to share this amazing experience with that special someone.
