EXPEDITION TOURS

Travel with Us

Wild@Heart has been involved in adventure motorcycling for over a decade and traveled South Africa and beyond our borders on two-wheels for many more. Our love for exploring and riding has encouraged us to start arranging organised expeditions into Africa. We also do custom trips and tours in South Africa and elsewhere for individuals or small groups.

The dictionary explains an expedition as follows:

expedition /ɛkspɪˈdɪʃ(ə)n/ noun

a journey undertaken by a group of people with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration, research, or war.

synonyms: journey, voyage, tour, odyssey; undertaking, enterprise, mission, project, quest, operation, commission, assignment, exploit; exploration, safari, trek, hike, survey

and a tour as...

tour /tʊə/ noun

a journey for pleasure in which several different places are visited. "a motoring tour of Scotland"

synonyms: excursion, journey, expedition, trip, jaunt, outing, day trip, junket, voyage, trek, safari; rareperegrination

We like to combine it - A journey undertaken by a group of people with a particular purpose, especially that of pleasure in which several different places are visited.

Malawi Expedition

Travel with us and discover, Malawi - The Warm Heart of Africa. Our expedition will start in Blantyre and we then ride a circular route first heading South to Mount Mulanje and Zomba and then up North along the shoreline of Lake Malawi. In the North we will visit Livingstonia and then follow some interesting inland routes, back to Blantyre.

Pillion Riding

We transport your motorcycle from Cape Town or Johannesburg to Blantyre, saving you weeks on traveling time and arrange border papers and third-party insurance in Malawi on your behalf.

Most of the trip (almost 70%) will be on tar/paved roads except for shorter sections of dirt to the lodges/overnight accommodation and of course a few gravel roads to visit interesting places and towns and see some of the lesser-traveled gems hidden in this amazing country.

Small groups of only 5-8 motorcycles allow for a more personalised and unique experience.

The trip is suitable for intermediate riders and is pillion friendly (because you would love to share this amasing experience with someone special).

If required, motorcycle rentals can be arranged. This will incur additional costs. If you prefer this option, please contact us for a quotation.

Tanzania Expedition

Tanzania is consistently rated as probably the best tourist destination in Africa. It is home to the highest and largest free standing mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro and particularly known for the rich and diverse wildlife concentrations, mineral and other resources available. Over 25% of the land is protected and amazing safari destinations like the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater attrack thousands of international vistors annually. Tanzania will make your dream adventure come true. Normally, Tanzania's safari destinations are divided into three circuits, the Northern Circuit, Southern Circuit and Western Circuit. The Northern Circuit includes the Serengeti along with it's famous wildebeest migration and the Mt Kilimanjaro National Park, making it by far the most popular region. Our expedition will cover the eastern region, north of Dar es Salaam and some of the best areas of the popular Northern Circuit. Our Tanzania motorcyle expedition starts in Dar es Salaam, follow a circular route north along the eastern coast line almost to the border with Kenya. We then traverse inland through the Eastern Usambara Mountains, the Western Usambaras, and ride around Mount Kilimanjaro. From there we travel to Karatu and visit the Ngorongoro Crater. Further South we ride through Mikumi and back to spend our last night at Bagamoyo, just north of Dar es Salaam, from where we fly back.

We transport your motorcycle from Cape Town or Johannesburg to Tanzania and back, saving you weeks on traveling time and arrange border papers and third-party insurance on your behalf.

Approximately 60% of the trip will be on tar/paved roads. The rest of the trip is on gravel roads which take us through beautiful countryside scenery. Time-spent on non-paved routes is approximately 80%.

As per all our other tours, groups consists of only 5-8 motorcycles to allow for a more personalised and unique experience.

The trip is suitable for strong, intermediate to advanced riders and is in general not pillion friendly.

If required, motorcycle rentals can be arranged, which will incur additional costs. If you want to join our Tanzania expedition from another country, we can provide you with a customised quotation, if needed.
